Q & L Sixth Challenge: Flower(s) & Travel

The new words for the Quotes & Lyrics challenge at The Craft Barn this time are Flower(s) and Travel. We are to use one or both words in our work and link them to a quote or a lyric.

I found many excellent quotes and was almost spoiled for choice when I happened upon the song, San Francisco by Scott McKenzie. It was released in 1967 and to many, became the anthem of the 60's. It is a personal favourite of mine. I have a link to the song here if you're up for a bit of nostalgia



I used Neocolor 2s for the background, smooshing them about with baby wipes and then removing some of the colour through a Floral Lace stencil, with another wipe. I used an Andy Skinner stencil for the face, which I embossed with silver EP. 
The flowers are a mixture of peel-offs and hand drawn, all of which I cloured with watercolour pencils.

    Oooh Lynn, I love this, especially that gorgeous background! Thank you for your visit and your lovely comment, which really encouraged me! I have been feeling rather frustrated of late, at the little amount of time I am able to spend in my ARTHaven being creative. I can't wait to get my sewing machine back (always assuming it can be repaired...) and get stuck in with the next stage! Meantime, I've been messing about with Tyvek, and will be uploading a post about that on my blog soon. What fun this all is!

    Well done Mo it's brilliant. Her hair is wonderful. Wouldn't it be wonderful to be able to walk around with flowers in our hair, so liberating I think. Xxx

    Once again, I am in awe of the amount of time and effort you put into your art challenges. This one is no exception. You did a fantastic job with that hair. It is all so seamless, I had no idea there were so many techniques involved.

    I also liked how you treated the background. I have never seen those Neocolors, so was quite impressed with all that work you did getting the subtle background. Lovely, as usual, and fun to hum along with that song, although I thought it was sung by someone else (my ignorance is showing, I suspect as it was a bit before my time).

    What a fantastic face stencil, she is beautiful. The flowers you coloured for her hair are amazing, have tried doing this and it isn't an easy thing to do!

    Great lyrics, they bring back so many memories of my childhood :-) xxx

    great idea using a babywipe through a stencil.
