QUOTES & LYRICS CHALLENGE - HURT

The challenge word this time is "HURT"
I found this song by the band NINE INCH NAILS.
It comes from their album THE DOWNWARD SPIRAL.
It was nominated for a Grammy Award for Best Rock Song
and has also been sung by Johnny Cash and Leona Lewis.

Its a bit morbid for me and look what its done to my poor Doodly Bird.

Craft Barn Q & L Challenge number 7: Change & Truth

Phew! I didn't think I was going to get this done in time but I started and was finished in about an hour once I knew what I wanted to do.

The Craft Barn's latest words in the Q & L challenge are Change & Truth. We are to use one or both words in our work and use a Quote or a Lyric. I chose to use Truth and found a fab quote from Mahatma Gandhi.

My page is very simple. I used chalks through a doily stencil, sprayed over with cheap hairspray to fix it and then used my wee alphabet stamps to add my quote.

I'm a bit wonky with them, but it's still easy enough to read I think, lol. Finally I edged my page with some pink & some white lacy tape.
Thank you so much for coming to look, I truly appreciate your comments.

QUOTES & LYRICS CHALLENGE.........

Find a Quote or Lyrics that include the word TRAVEL
So here are the Doodly Birds back on the road again.  Not with Willie Nelson this time
but with PATSY CLINE.

"Oh, we ain't got a barrel of money
Maybe we're ragged & funny
But we'll travel along, singing a song
Side by side

I think these two must be a bit of a Bonnie & Clyde as they certainly have got a barrel of money on the back of their Doodlebug Frida.

QUOTES & LYRICS CHALLENGE ..... ROAD

The challenge is to find a quote or lyric with the word ROAD in it.
As you can see I have taken Willie Nelson's song
ON THE ROAD AGAIN
I have drawn a picture of my little VW Beetle and the song is very appropriate as my husband Philip always sings it to me when he is on his way home from working away.

He has put his own twist to it though, I wonder if you know what it is.  The clue is in the picture.

You can have a look here at what other people have made of the challenge

Quotes & Lyrics: Marriage & Age

It is not a sketch but it is in my sketchbook, so I hope it still counts for our SKETCHBOOK FRIENDS BLOG.

Here is my take on this Quotes & Lyrics Challenge.

I have used the lyrics from that old crooner Frank Sinatra

"Love and marriage
Love and marriage
Go together like a horse and carriage"

As you can see there is no carriage and that is because we got married on the beach in Miami, Florida 25 years ago this September and we have been together 35 years in all.
Here is another song for you
"And its getting better, growing stronger"

Q & L Fourth Challenge: Marriage & Age

The new words from The Craft Barn's Quotes & Lyrics challenge are Marriage & Age. We are to use one or both words in our work and link them to a quote or a lyric. I chose 'Age' as my word, and the quote I have used has no known origin, (that I could find), but it is one I am sure many have heard at one time or another;
'Act your age, not your shoe size'.
I really enjoyed creating this and am mostly happy with it, but I do feel something is missing although I cannot put my finger on what that is. Very frustrating.
I hope you will all visit the other links found on The Craft Barn's blog and spread the love.
Thanks for looking, *hugs* Mo

Q&L Challenge 3: Strong and/or Miss

The new words over at The Craft Barn for their Q&L challenge this time are Strong and Miss. I chose Strong for my word. My page ended up as nothing like what I had imagined, but I am very happy with it.
This page was another that I had previously added bits of paint & inks onto. My focal image & quote is from Queen of Your Own Life  Below you can see a close-up of it.
I used all kinds of things on the page because I didn't really know how to achieve what I had initially envisioned. I used gesso, embossing pastes, (pearlescent generic types), stencils, masks, Neo colour 2s, pigment inks, stamping, peel offs, inktense pencils, rub-ons, dried flowers & a date stamp. I think that's all, haha.

Close-up of my image & quote.
Thank you so much for visiting, and if you want to know more about the rules and details of the challenge then go here Q&L details

Quotes & Lyrics Challenge 2 - DAZZLE

Dazzle camouflage, also known as razzle dazzle or dazzle painting, was a family of ship camouflage used extensively in World War I and to a lesser extent in World War II and afterwards. Credited to artist Norman Wilkinson, it consisted of complex patterns of geometric shapes in contrasting colours, interrupting and intersecting each other.
Unlike some other forms of camouflage, dazzle works not by offering concealment but by making it difficult to estimate a target's range, speed and heading. Norman Wilkinson explained in 1919 that dazzle was intended more to mislead the enemy as to the correct position to take up than actually to miss his shot when firing.
QUOTED FROM WIKAEPEDIA
NOW HERE IS MY INTERPRETATION
HOPE YOU LIKE IT.
Dazzle is also the title of an album by Orchestral Manoveuvres in the Dark.
Picasso also claimed that the Cubists had invented Dazzle.

Q&L Challenge 2: Silence and/or Dazzle

Hi folks :D The new word choices over at The Craft Barn for their Q&L challenge this time, are Silence & Dazzle. I chose Silence for my word and had lots of fun creating my page.
I started with a page, that I had previously played on with some acrylics & stencils, because they were the 'right' colours. I added stamped leaves, acorns & tree outlines. I also glued down some little button leaves & an acorn. I sketched a very simple line around the words trying to make the shape of a tree, (don't laugh).
And finally, here is a close-up of the quote I used. It's also easier to see some of the stamping here too.
Thank you for visiting and I hope you can make time to visit some of the fabulous artists whose links can be found here The Craft Barn

New Challenge from the Craft Barn - Quotes & Lyrics

Hi Everyone :D  First of all I would like to say a huge, THANK YOU! to Lynn Holland for allowing me access to this blog as we join each other in a new challenge from The Craft Barn.
After completing last years Alpha Challenge from The Craft Barn and having lots of fun, I decided to join in with their newest fortnightly challenge.
The, Quotes & Lyrics, Q&L challenge calls for us to use a Quote and/or a Lyric using one or both of the given words. The words this week are Smile & Up.
I chose to just use Smile on my page. The book I am using is a Windsor & Newton which I got on sale sometime last year. It already has a few pages worked on but the paper is heavy bodied & is so nice to work on. Also, it stands up to wet medium pretty well, so I thought I would make better use of it with this challenge as I have no idea what I will use one week to the next.

The quote is one attributed to Mark Twain, 'Wrinkles should merely indicate where the smiles would have been'. The fabulous image of Stella, which I coloured with watercolour pencils, is from Bugaboo. I created the background with various stencils and acryllic paints and the quote is printed.
Please visit The Craft Barn if you would like to see more Smile/Up work from some amazing artists.
Thank you for visiting **hugs* :D Mo
