I started my sketchbook still without a theme in mind but feeling compelled to get out the little Olivetti typewriter my sister gave me.
And that is where the first page came from
I love collage but at this point I felt more attracted to textiles than drawing so out came an old embroidery booklet that I have been wanting to cut up for a while and that started me off. Next I dug out the piece of antique crochet and that was the start of it, my first pages.
You can see a little cut out piece of text at the top of the book, it says
"IN THIS BOOK"
that is my theme/title the idea came to me like a bolt out of the blue.
Mo Allan's blank book is on its way to her and I can't wait to see what she does with it.
If you want to join our SKETCHBOOK FRIENDS

I got my book :-D It's beautiful. Green. Smooth pages. Smelling like new paper does. I hope I do it justice. I'm excited about it, but nervous, but I also can't wait. But I will. Well I haven't decided on a theme yet, haha.
ReplyDeleteThank you for describing your first pages Lynn :0) xx
You will see my style changing through out the book as I love collage but I am going to challenge myself to draw more and even use paints. I don't have a plan I just go with my gut reactions.
DeleteEnjoy yourself with your book Mo.
